Oatmeal, fiber, and the bowels
I do not know if this is the right place for this post but here it goes.
I seem to have noticed here lately, last 2 weeks, that my bowel movements are not as regular as they were and not as much as they were. In this time I started eating oatmeal again. I use the cooking oats and put some honey on them. I usually put about 4 tablespoons of oats in hot water. There is 4g of fiber in a 1/2 cup of these oats. I do not have the constipated feeling either. Somehow this doesn't seem normal but is it? DEADn |

oatmeal is soluble fiber and you really should have similar amounts of soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet.....which is why the physillium husk works great for elimination...
you can also get your insoluble from other sources....you can do a search on the two and see just how many sources of each there are...many!

Ive been having the best bowel movements of my life since eating about 2 cups of broccoli with everymeal.
I call the big ones skip Seriously though, Ive been birthing some butt babies, and Ive always had a crappy metabolism and constipation. Not even fiber like benefiber or metamucil helped. Veggies are where its at.

I've been using equate's fiber supplement which is about 1/2 the price of metamucil but has the same stuff in it. Its psyllium husk. Anyways it helps to counteract the effects of the cafeteria (instant liquid poop)

I started back to taking the pysillium husks. Did I spell that right? I am taking a little of that plus another cleansing supplement and I noticed that is helping. I find it odd that the oatmeal doesn't seem to help. At first it did but after a few days seemed like I would go every other day. I do eat veges and salads and have had some movements but I like the ones with the logs where when you are done you feel washed out inside and you can run a mile! lol

Just thought I'd bump this.
I rarely see people taking ground flax seed. The brand I buy, which is Bob's Red Mill Ground Flaxseed, has 4g of fiber per serving and 4.5g of healthy fats. A great source for Lignans & Omega-3s (and fiber of course). |

Eat yogurt w/ fibrous green veggies. Pro biotics + pre biotics work synergistically for good elimination.

fibrous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and fruits such as apples & oranges are the best sources of soluble and insoluble fiber, but don't forget that hydration is also a factor, so be sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. The latest recommendation is 8oz per waking hour of fluids other than milk, coffee, tea or alcohol.
