mixing carbs and fat?

i was just looking for some advice on this subject. i have heard 2 different things about carbs and fats. some say to eat protein carb n protein fat meals seperat and i have also heard to eat fats with every meal except pre and post workout meals in order to controle insulin. if anybody could help me clarify this that would be great thanks.

I would opt for the latter of your two statements.

From what I understand, given both carbs and fat in one meal, the body gravitates toward burning the "cheap gas" (carbs) and decides to save up "the good stuff" (fats) for later.

Getting the insulin spike with the carbs helps that storage along.

That said, I personally agree with DD, as insulin (in all but carb refeed and PWO) is the devil for me... the amount of fat storage coming from a little olive oil (or whatever) in a meal is nothing compared to the reduction in insulin reaction.

YMMV and many DC guys follow strict P/F and P/C meal schemes and are greatly successful at them.
