Pit bull myths- must see videos !!!

There is no breed of dog so misrepresented and misunderstood ans the american Pit Bull Terrior

This animal has without question one of the best temperments of ALL breeds.

The breed has been exploited because of its tenacity and athletic prowess.
The "animals" that mistreat and abuse these dogs in the name of "sport" ( ie Michael Vick)
are reponsible for perpetuating the myths about Pit Bulls.
I personally own 2 pit bulls and use mine as ambassadors for the breed.

In this thread I will post video pertaining to Pit Bull abuse-------------

I owned pit bulls. jeep and red noses blood lines. none showed any aggression. I have three kids and the dogs (especially the female) were as soft as anything with them.
I have an Aussie bulldog, which is a grate breed as well , but when we walk her people are crossing the road thinking she is a pit.

thanks for putting up those videos. these days such dogs are hard to find and more often I've seen examples of bizarre and vicious behaviour attributed to this breed incorrectly. American Pit Bull Terrier is a no-no down here.

I have never known ANYONE, that after spemding time with a Pit Bukk, changed their opinion about them.

They were not breed for human aggresion! If they were so human aggressive, they Police would use them for attach dogs---BUT THEY DONT!

Pit Bulls without question are one of the most human freindly and loyal dogs breeds in exsistance.

It truely pains me to hear someone uneducated in the breed speak negatively about PIt Bulls.

The breed may not be "your cup of tea" but it isnt because they are maneaters!

I large portion of my life is dedicated to saving these dogs from the rampant abused they suffer from, educating people about how gentle and loyal this breed truely is.

i used t raise pits, red nose as a matter of fact. with out a doubt the best dogs around. even temperment and very loving. max, one of my studs, weighed over 90lbs and slept with my daughter everynight. we had 4 or 5 at times and they all stayed in the house. very clean and well mannerd dogs. we also raisd enghlish bulls which loved having as well.

in my book folks who fight dogs are cowards who are afraid to get in the ring themselves. i would love to get my hands on michael vick and show him what a rear naked choke feels like. or better yet let him get in the ring with a juiced up pit whos been abused for severla years. see how he likes it.

this kinda stuff pissed me off, and bad.

Those videos really make me sick...seeing those dogs scarred for life....no choice for them, only their owners. I have co-workers who see dogfighting as "ok" and the same as MMA. The difference, DUMBFUCK, is choice....the dog doesn't have one.

You got it!

I just got a email from our local animal shelter- they have a Lhaso ahpso (?) and a Chihuahua that BOTH HAVE BITEN PEOPLE AND ARE UNFREINDLY TOWARDS OTHER ANIMALS... AND THEY SEEK US TO HELP THEM FIND HOMES FOR THESE DOGS.... if it was a Pit BUll he would be euthanized immediately--- that double standard pissed me off... WE have rescued and transported 3 cocker spaniels that were certified maneaters- peope seem to over look this behavior from other breeds..... I wish the Pits had just a fair shake.

I know ALL too well about breed prejudice. I have a Doberman...92lbs, cropped ears, docked tail, the whole nine. What's funny is seeing moms and dads scream at their kids to "stay away from that dog." Well, what they don't see is the little baby he is at home. the one resting his head on my lap while I'm watching tv....nudging me when I stop scratching his neck. He is seriously such a good dog. His breed gets a ton of flack. I had to claim him as a mut on my home owners insurance....they don't like rotts, dobes, and pitts. I have seen my dog mad only a handful of times....and that was when someone came to my house uninvited, another dog charged me, and some drunk guy wanted to pet him and was very stumbly and was raising his arms uncontrollably close to me. I have a huge heart for dogs bro.

I had a red doberman, cropped ears and docked tail. He was a hoss too, a little over 110 lbs. I got him as a pup when I was 10, he lived until I had to put him down when I was 21. Biggest lap dog ever! I cried for days when he was gone.

I hate that people have a bad perception towards certain breeds. My wife raised "Rotts" and they gett knocked, too.

I admire you for what you do SM.

I have never meet a dog that I didnt like. If a dog is mean look at why its mean. Usually its the owner not them. There is only one breed of dog that is naturally agressive to the point that pitbulls supposedly have. That is the Akita. But it still reflects on how the owner treats it.

I was showing Fila brasileiro. that is an aggressive dog. still a great breed but naturally very aggressive. never had issues with well treated Akitas.

I want a pit so bad but my girlfriend doesn't like them and she thinks they're horrible w/ children. We don't have any kids or anything but she thinks that when we do they'll be aggressive towards them or something. It's really pissing me off too.

Shame. due to high pain tolerance the pit is great with kids, my kids could stab mine and the dog would just keep on licking them.

It is a shame. I would never own a different breed. Luckily, my g/f soon-to-be fiance doesn't mind them and knows how they actually are. Just ask your g/f what kind of dog she thinks Petey was on Lil Rascals. Here is a temperament test that was performed sometime last year on many breeds. Compare the American Pit Bull Terrier to many popular household dogs like the Golden Retriever, Beagle, Poodle, Boxer and you will see they hold their own.

It drives me crazy when people go off with ignorant statements about APBT's. I have five friends who own these dogs and I am thoroughly convinced they are among some of the smartest, most loyal, gentle dogs I've spent significant time with. The worst is when the news channels get a hold of a dog biting story and falsely claim that it was a pit bull. I was recently reading about one of these incidents up in New England where the news agency didn't even check their sources, and were mistaken, nor did they attempt to correct it afterwards. You want an agressive, snappy dog? Go buy one of those toy dogs so popular today and enjoy thier "gentle" nature around little children.

Without question APBT are one of THE BEST family dogs there are.
Theyre temperment is beter than 95% of all the other breed.

Our dogs are absolutely gentle and loves children, kittens, and little puppies.

They are comnpletely non aggressive, as are 99/9% of all pit bulls- its the owner that makes the difference-

PERSONALLY- I would have to think long and hard how long I wanted to spne with someone that is so closed minded and misinformed to the point of depriving you of something one teuely want- relationships arent about controlling someone or keeping someone from achieving goal;s or happiness.

Bro- think long and hard about a long term realtion ship with some one like this- today it a dog, whats it gonna be tommorrow? It can only get worse- it never gets better- relationships should be absolutely perfect at first- over the years you find your bumps in the road- it not supposed to be in the beginning

My wife married me whe I had a 12y/o pit. She fell in love with him and now she runs a pit bull rescue with me, and you could tear her away from pits....

People don't like pits because they are capable. Lets face it, a thousand of those dogs could bite people and there would be hardly a drop of blood shed, whereas one pit out of a thousand could bite one person and you know there's going to be some damage that'll make waves. That's why the lowlifes who breed them for fighting and aggression are a far greater enemy than the general public.

RIGHT ON TERROR !! well said-

Its the equivilent of assuming every man over 250lbs will beat you to ceath...maybe he's capable, but......

It kills me to hear that kind of ignorance.... its just an innocent damn dog not a automatic weapon. Even dogs confiscated from fighting rings are almost always non human aggressive...and theyve been bred and trained to kill each other! Sure there is the ooccassional dog that is just bad..but is not even close to being the norm.

To know pit bull is to love them...period
