Protein Shake Recipes

I have a couple protein shake recipes for the bulkers. I am giving you some postworkout recipes but if you prefer to use them at other times of the day, they will work just fine, too.

All protein is only TRUEPROTEIN.

Blend all with ice and water:
*3 scoops TRUEPROTEIN
*3 packets of flavored oatmeal
Note: Any flavor will do but there are some tasty ones that stand out - any of the fruit and cream flavors like peaches and cream, strawberries and cream, etc.. There is a cinnamon roll flavor that is one of my favorites; french toast, apple crisp, banana bread to name a few others.

Very simple shake that yields about 95-100g of carbs (fast and slow) and about 75-85g of very high quality protein.

Blend all with ice and water:
*3 scoops TRUEPROTEIN
*1/2 cup plain oatmeal (instant or regular - doesn't matter because it is blended)
*9 low fat oreo cookies
*1 cup non fat skim milk

Very tasty and again combines fast and slow carbs and yields about 75-85g of high quality protein and about 100g of carbs. This one will taste even better if blended THICK with less water than the others.

Blend all with ice and water:
*3 scoops TRUEPROTEIN
*1/2 cup plain oatmeal
*1 cup sweetened chunky applesauce
*cinnamon to taste

Another tasty concoction that will yield about 75-85g of high quality protein and about 75g of carbs both fast and slow.

The BIG DOG (this is for the bulkers looking for massive calories)
Blend with ice:
*3 scoops TRUEPROTEIN
*1.5 cups Ben and Jerry's Phish Food
*3 cups whole milk
*4 tbsp. powdered malt

This one has alot more fat than the others that are either very low in fat or almost no fat at all. I don't recall the breakdown of carbs, protein and fats but it is through the roof. If I find it, I will post it.

All but the "Big Dog" can be used for precontest dieting, bro. I use them myself. You may have to cut down a few carbs depending on your situation but other than that, they are great. I think you may be refering to the fact that there are simple sugars in there and you don't prefer simple sugars while dieting. That's too bad because whether you are dieting or not, fast carbs postworkout are a must. In reality, your postworkout nutrition shouldn't be much different from bulking or offseason to prepping for a show with the exception of the AMOUNT of carbs. I use a combination of fast and slow carbs whether I am dieting or not and I have my clients do the same.

if it is a pro-fat shake then i'd go with double fudge chocolate team skip blended with peanut butter .

for c-p shake , i like stevia with wheat germ and cinnamon and and a few blueberies with an chocolate isolate .

I use my protein with 1 cup total oats, blended. At least half the cup is whole oats, and the the other half is an instant. But I usually have just 1 pack of instant to make up my full cup. It adds just enough to make it even better.

Whenever I blend oats or peanut butter it just ends up in a slurry at the bottom of the shake. I've heard that some people use a coffee grinder to grind their oats before putting them in the shake.
Just wondering if this is necessary or if I just need to buy a better blender.

You need a better blender. Look for one with metal blades in the pitcher. I've used Oster blenders from Wal-Mart for many years w/ no problem.

That's what I have. Guess I'll just try mixing it up with a spoon or something between blending.

If your having trouble getting your oats to mix up well throw them in first w/ nothing else and start the blender on for a few seconds. It just grinds the hell out of it so that you just have and oat powder. Mixes up much better.

I grind the oats for shaker only. blender does the grinding anyway.

I've been having my morning shake with oatmeal in it for a while now. I used to just have the shake and eat the oatmeal seperate but I like the taste better mixed with the chocolate protein powder.

I had the problem with the oatmeal at the bottom and I even grinded them prior but it still sank to the bottom. Now I find that adding the desired amount of dry oatmeal to the blender first and then adding water to it, just enough to cover them. You can use cold water because you're going to let them sit for like a minute and by then, they should be alot softer and than just add everything else. I've only tried this with instant oatmeal, with regular you might have to let them sit in the water a little longer.
