edema 5 weeks out

Hey guys,

As some of you know i am getting ready for a show, I am working with Nate and we are discussing this issue, but i wanted to put it out there for intense muscle as well to see if anyone has had these issues. I am 5 weeks out and have some serious edema going on in my lower body. Looking back it started a while ago but i didn't notice until the past weekend because my ankles and calves swole up so bad it hurt, and they are still swollen. What started weeks ago was, for example, i would sit at the comp for a while and when i got up there would be lines, etc. impressed on my hams, glutes, from the chair.....and they would stay for a while...like i said i thought it was weird but didn't think "edema" until my ankles swelled up....it is pitting as well

Done some research, and think my first step will be dropping my sodium, i'm already consuming >2 gallons fluid daily (1 gal H20, 1 gal crystal light) been elevating my feet at night....gonna do my cardio in the morning tomorrow, skipped it today because my calves where so tight it hurt, do you think the cardio will help shed the water? I'm doing 2 hrs 6 days a week. Just confused here guys, and a tad frightened to be honest, so if you have any experience/ideas help a brotha out

BTW..i have made a doctor's appointment for this Thurs

I dont think its a salt issue as your body will process out as much or as little as it needs to

you're doing 2 hours of cardio a day, probably all up on your feet.

do you stand at all during work, or at all much outside of cardio?

how heavy are you, and are you doing cardio where you are supporting your BW (treadmill, step mill, etc.)

yes on all accounts there bhman.....the 2 hours of cardio are done primarily on the stepmill....i work in a kitchen so i am on my feet the entire time i'm there....also when i'm doing clinicals (Fridays) for nursing school i am on my feet the entire time...and i weigh 260....the swollen ankles hit last sat night....friday was 8hrs at clinical, 6 hours at work, 2 hrs cardio.....then sat was 2hrs cardio, weights, 10 hrs at work....you may be on to something there bhman .....however since i've dropped the sodium some my cankles seem better......still gonna go see the doc, but thanks bro

BTW, although i wasn't "measuring" my sodium, going back and doing the numbers i'm certain it was >10,000 mg daily +2 1/2 gallons of fluid (water and crystal light)

I've had this happen twice. Usually at the 5-6 week out mark it hits me out of nowhere. Without going into detail, the only thing that helped was dropping my supplements.

Bro I'd get your heart and kidneys checked.

kidneys function tests all came back fine, as far as heart other than auscultating for abnormalities the doc didn't do anything else, but all was normal there......it's still come and go, really only after i've been on my feet 8+ hours, then it's gone in the morning.....it's gotten better, without going into too much detail i'm pretty sure it's estrogen related
