Pro tan question

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the most painless way to apply pro tan to your face and head. I shave my head and it always seems like I have a heck of a time getting the color to match the rest of my body. Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry. That is what I meant. I have used bronzer s before (clinique) and for some reason my head has never looked right.

I've used protan on my face and the faces of my male clients

a VERY light coat applied with the fingers the morning of the show has always worked very well

for women, I'd go with makeup

I've used the foam brush that comes with the bottle. Just put a light spray on the pad and then dab tiny marks on your cheeks, chin, forehead and then start to blend with the dry side of the brush. That's what I did, it looked as good as ProTan can look.

If nothing else, get airbrushed. It looks better and they'll do your face and head to look the same as your body.

By airbrushing you mean like the ones at tanning salons? I might try that this time. Then I would add coats from there? Thanks for the help.

Bump this!! I have a difficult time getting the face right. I'm about 5 weeks out right now and could benefit from some advise.

So it seems at least a couple of peeps here have had some success with light careful application of protan to the face. I'm curious about what others here like to do for the face. What kind of face bronzers do you use? I once had somebody instruct me to go to Macy's dept store and go to the make-up center and ask for a face bronzer.

Anyways, bumping this one up for some experienced replies on face color.

i used protan on my face...and im a chick, and it looked really good and matched my body awesome. i had a good base tan from the tanning salon first. what i did is i bought a make-up sponge like one for applying foundation, they can be found at the drugstore for like a dollar. i put the protan in a dish like a washed out cottage cheese container or something and dipped into it - dont spray. i applied protan to my body with the paintsponge that comes with it, and used the make up sponge to put it on my face. before i put it on though, i had put some lotion on my face so it was kinda slippery and really rubbed the protan in with the lotion. i also bought nivea cream lotion and AFTER applying protan, i put some on in thick quick swipes, kinda blotted it on - not rubbed or wiped. let it sit on top and not rubbed in. i slept with an old pair of sweats and long sleeved shirt. then, in the morning, i gave it a quick rinse in the shower. the coating of lotion keeps your skin from getting streaks. i had zero streaks and my color was super even. i gave my whole face and body three coats, one each night for the last three days. also, it helps to buy yourself a loofa and a good exfoiliator wash and scrub the shit out of yourself EVERY time you shower for about 2 weeks before the protan. sounds unimportant, but this gets rid of any dead or rough skin and your knees, elbows, ankles, places that like - wont soak it all up and be darker - that looks dumb. anyway, hope this helped. i also brushed on a bronzer morning of show - kinda gave my face a flawless look - a cheap drugstore kind - remmel i think it was. it worked fine. you dont need an expensive department store brand that you will never use again. make sure your body is shaved good too.

Do NOT put protan on your face...

There are a lot of chemicals in it and its not good for your face. Plus, it will get into all your pores- nasty. DO THIS:

Go to the MAC makeup counter at the department store, tell them what you are doing in detail- get a heavy foundation and powder to set it; Or just get a super heavy foundation that does not need a powder for it to set on the skin.
Try it on at the store on your forearm to make sure it is dark enough.
Do this early so you can test it out at home for correctness- if it's not good exchange it for the right one- just keep the receipt.

Yes this is for men too.

I use "Studio Fix Fluid Liquid Foundation- Color is NC 50" and "Blot Powder Loose- Color is Dark."

I agree with all that said NOT to use pro-tan on your face! Do what bd6grl said, but don't bother buying the actual size--ask for a sample and use that. Apply a tiny bit of protan in the inside of your wrist and go to your MAC counter (in almost all big cosmetic department stores) and ask them to help you match a foundation to that your pro-tan color. Ask for a sample and they will scoop out a bit of foundation in a tiny jar and give it to you. Use a cheap foundation wedge (found at walmart, target etc...) and apply the foundation to a clean face.
