The Horror Movie Thread

This thread is for anyone else obsessed or interested in horror movies. Some new movies that look good will also be posted. Here's one I cannot wait for. Halloween! Rob Zombie's remake should be pretty good. Some may not like his other works....House of 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects but, this one looks very good. The rebirth of the best horror movie ever made comes out 08-31-07. Here's a peek!

Yeah, you'll have your doubters. Some don't like how they move more towards his beginning....why he is so evil. BUT, I like this. I wanna know why he is like this.

High Tension/Haute Tension is great. Don't think they needed to tack on 'that' ending tho.

I saw 'Ted Bundy' last week. It was obviously quite low budget but really brutal.

I had mixed opinions of Hostel. From the previews it sounded as if this movie surpassed any in terms of gore/violence. I thought SAW of any other horror movie was just as gory. The naked chics in there were hot though!

I cant wait for Halloween either, one of the few movies i am willing to pay for in theaters this year. Wait til you guys see Hatchet though, i promise this will be the surprise hit this year and will blow everyone away, it will probably be better than Hostel II though i love Eli and Hostel, but Hatchet is a throwback to the 80s slasher movies we all grew up with. Also BUY PANS LABYRINTH!!! One of the most stylistic and amazing films i have ever seen, there is no excuse not to have seen this. Then, my personal favorite indie flick is comiong out in June, pick up a copy of Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. It is a deconstructionist horror movie shot sort of like The Office and This is Spinal Tap, where a film crew follows Leslie Vernon as he trains for cardio to chase his victims later, and goes takes the film crew through a walkthrough of the house he plans on killing everyone at:

DVDs coming out Sept 11th FINALLY:
From Beyond
The Burning

Yeah Pans looked a bit gay. The Burning was pretty good, if it's the 1981 version you mean. George from Seinfeld is in it.

I'm gonna see the new Hills have eyes sequel tonight. The remake last year was great.

Pan's is a twisted children's story in the style of the original Brother's Grimm, where the monsters arent toned down and are dark and evil. The makeup work and effects are all done beautifully, and it isnt a foo-foo movie like The Brother's Grimm with Brokeback himself. Everything in it is terrifyingly beautiful

I was excited too but it was a let down. The other three are great, though.

Pan's labyrinth is great. Very original and dark. I wanted to see it in the theater but it wasn't released everywhere.

the hitcher didnt appeal to me much, however i did just see When A Stranger Calls remake that i picked up used for $3.00... I can only hope to sell it for that much or meet the director some day to snap the disc in front of his face and ask for my $3!! In essense I dont mind the idea of a remake, especially when the two options are "take a chance on a different take on a classic" or "never see this movie redone again," however most of the remakes being done are completely unoriginal and unwarranted (ESPECIALLY The Omen, which was literally shot for shot the same exact movie with different actors cashing in on the fact that it was released on 6/6/6). That is why I cant wait for Halloween, since Rob is completely reinventing the mythos and following Michael throughout the story instead of Laurie Strode
