Hypoglycemia & Fasting??
I did a thread search on hypoglycemia and hypoglycemic and only found 1 thread so I'm posting my question here and I hope that's ok.
I'm hypoglycemic and I would like to do a juice fast (3 days?) to detox and clean everything out. Everything that I've ever read in regard to juice fasting or fasting in general states that hypoglycemic people shouldn't fast. So I've always been too scared to try. Are there any hypo members that have successfully completed a juice fast and if so could you point me to the proper thread(s) or link(s)? Your wisdom is greatly appreciated. |

Que _66, I'm going to move your thread also over to Preventative Measures in hopes that someone may have an answer for you!

Que-
I'm not hypoglycemic, and I don't know of anybody that is that used a juice fast. I don't think it would be a real good idea for someone that is hypoglycemic to do such a fast. People that are in this condition need a steady supply of carbohydrate, and fasting doesn't do this. Besudes, unless you are making your own juice from real fruit I think it would be detrimental to do this as commercialized fruit juices are loaded with simple sugars. This would likely create a sugar high followed by a severe crash in blood sugar levels, imo. Perhaps you can try a fast of sorts by using a small but steady intake of complex carbs?
