preworkout shake

i have been using one scoop of whey + 1/2 cup oatmeal. is it possible a scoop of mrp would be better due to a slower digestion? im afraid the whey is digesting too fast and halfway through the workout i may be burning muscle from running on empty.

Try two scoops of whey with your oats. The oats themselves will slow digestion anyway.

You could also use olive oil to slow digestion

assuming your getting about 25 grams of whey with that shake and then working out within an hour i would not worry about burning through the whey so quickly, the oats have loads of fiber which will slow down digestion a bit anyway, if you have more then an hour and a half from consumption to workout then i would up the whey or add in some liquid egg whites which are slower digesting.

No way you can digest that so quick. Oats have fats and fiber, and even the whey is not that "quick".

I usually take in about 80 grams of protien before I work out. Or eat a steak about an hour before.

the whey will be through you in about an hour from what i have heard. However the oats should be slowing things down and you should have nothing to worry about. Just start drinking your PWO shake near the end of the workout if it bothers you that much.
