We are just north of Atlanta, GA. It's "cold" and "hot" here -- just great weather for the flu! Thought I would skip the gym this morning but I have heard stories of people trianing in 15 degree weather. Guess my 50 degrees shouldn't keep me out of the gym. My training is really intensifing so no reason to make excuses now!

I have a friend that shares an office with me at work and she just had vacation two weeks ago in Atlanta. It's nice to know where you are.
Yeah, 50 degrees isn't that bad. Keep up the training

Intro

Hey Ladies,
My name is Cindy. I currently live in San Antonio, Texas. I've been training for about 5 years off and on. For the passed year I have been consistent. Mainly due to the fact that I gained alot of weight when I was pregnant with my 18 month old son. I also have a 12 year old daughter. Big difference!!!
Last April 06 I competed in my 1st bb'ing Competition and took 1st because I was only one of two bb'ers. Most girls were figure. That's when I decided to change over to figure. I just competed in my 1st figure show back in Nov 06. I did okay (6th), but there is plenty of room for improvement. My next show is the Ronnie Coleman Classic April 21st in Ft. Worth. Wish me Luck!! I will need it.

Hello all
My name is Angie.
I am a mother of three, girl(4), boy(7) & girl(8).
36 yrs old
Live in northern VA about 1hr from DC.
After my third my husband and I decided that the factory was closed and I have decided that now it is time for me.
I joined weight watchers and lost 30lbs. I was doing cardio and classes at the gym at the time. About 6 months ago my husband (230@10, he hasn't posted yet,he's says he's lurking and learning) got me started lifting and I am really enjoying it.
I am considering figure comp, but still have some learning to do as far as contest prep is concerned.
Any way I have learned quite a lot from you all and feel like I already know you.
So I felt that it was time to introduce myself.

It's nice to hear from everyone.

My husband and I grew up in Florida. We have only been in Virginia for 3 1/2 years. We have been to King's Dominion, here. Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL.

My husband and I are Christians too. I would love to talk to IG about how she does it all.

Awesome to be here.

Hey IG

My kids are still young and impressionable. Do you have any advice on dealing with the issue of the figure suits? "They show your butt! " my daughter (9)says.

How can I be a Godly example and still go for a competition? I want her to be proud of me and still respect my decisions on clothing she can wear.

Any help with this?

Absolutely! For one....figure suits do show some of the butt, but your objective is not to show and flaunt the bum, but to show how hard you have worked to keep your body healthy. Everyone wears a suit when you go to the beach. It shows the butt as well. It's not like you are an ungodly person if you wear a bikini. It's the suggestive moves that some individuals do "in a bikini" that could be questionable, but of course, to each it's own. I am not going to judge.

Remember....our body is a temple and God gave us this body. We are responsible to take care of and keep it healthy because with a healthy body also comes a healthy mind and in return you are able to be a faithful, healthy servant to God.

Hope that helped some.

Thanks IG. Your right, It's the way you conduct yourself.

I want her to get that it's excersise, and eating right that makes you thin. I feel like all she sees from me is that I always need to lose weight (too fat). SHe on the other hand is below average for her age. Better body image is what I want to show.

Angie....I think it's more the choice of words that we use with our children. Instead of saying...Mom needs to "lose weight" and be skinny or thin, saying something like...Mom is eating smart to be a healthy temple to use for God's kingdom. Our children learn almost everything from the home. If you instill in her the right values (which I know you are!) and that everything that we do and say, should be for the glory of God. I know that I fall short many of times and I'm just so grateful that our God is a forgiving God and doesn't hold it against me. For we are weak in our own power.

But here I am going off track.

Sorry!

IG, you did a great job with this. Well said! I use a similiar temple saying with my kids to help them understand how important their health is. I will be adding some of this to it
