Hospitality

Well, it's a good thing we are all not down in the South. I can just imagine the peach cobbler and apple pies you would be bringing to my door. It's great to be welcomed so warmly.

I'm not one for dangling my toe in the water to test the temp, or wading in from the shallow end. I dive right on in.......and hope that I don't crack my melon on anything. LOL Within 24 hours of my first visit to this board, I joined, posted, and started a journal. I hope that y'all will visit it frequently and comment appropriately since I am extremely new to DC. I'll welcome all input, but somehow I find another woman's view more valuable. Thanks again!!!

Hi Everyone!
I am miltygirl and I wanted to introduce myself. I have read so many things about so many of you and it is so neat to hear and see what's going on. This board is like a big family.

I am 39 years young, I am married and I have 3 children. I have been training off and on for a long time. I have never competed. I have always wanted to compete but the timing was never right. Then time got away from me. I have recently had the desire to train harder and reach a few goals. Now I make the time

I live in Clearbrook, VA. about an hour from Washington and 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore. Baltimore was my first home. My home for most of my life was in Hershey, PA and now I live in Virginia. I have lived in Virginia for 18 years.

I do not have pics to share at this time. I will work on that.

Thank you isalndgirl, scorpio girl, back2front, gymdiva and bankerbabe for sharing.

Finally, A place to talk to others about training and nutrition etc.

Thanks,
miltygirl

Hi miltygirl!!! Awesome to have you here at IM! ParadiseCup lived in Virginia too, Dale City. He asked me to ask you if you have been to Hershey Park, King's Dominion and Busch Gardens. I'm sure you have.

I'm glad you are making the time to get in your training and decided to reach some of your goals. Us Mommies, need that to keep us sane.

Share pics when you have the time!

Again, welcome!

Hi,
I have been to Hershey Park and King's Dominion. I haven't tried Busch Gardens. I really like Hersey Park for the kids. You can ride down Chocolate Avenue and smell chocolate from the factory. The lamp post that hang over the street have the shape of kisses. The school above the park entrance was my old high school. I could go on but I won't.

I have a boy and two girls too Thanks for the welcome. I will share pics as soon as I can.

I've never been to any of those places, but HersheyPark sounds like alot of fun! I'm not a chocolate girl, but my kids would love something like that! I also have 2 girls and a boy. My daughter comes home this weekend from the AF. She has been away from home for a whole year!!! My other girl is 12 and my son is 7.

I would love to see pics when you get a chance.

I bet you are very excited about your daughter coming home. A year is a long time to be away from home.

My kids are 10, 8 and 6. My son being the oldest. It is very challenging to get everyone up in the mornings when they are these ages.

I will share pics. I hope soon. The problem is that I am usually the picture taker. I will have to get some taken soon.

That's exciting. Do you know what kind she bought?

Thanks! I needed that. My husband travels and getting to work on time can be difficult. I try to be patient but somedays are just C-R-A-Z-Y.

Hello all! My name is Melisa I am 32 and I am married to a wonderful man, Jason and we just celebrated our 10th anniversary in Aug. We have two boys 4 and 7 who are constantly on the go and keep us on our toes at all times!

As for training wise I was in 3 sports in high school and then travelled with Up With People for a year before college. The travel and amazing food in all the countries was enough to put me at a weight I only want to remember being pregnant at. Once I started college I started working out again on a very inconsistant schedule. I completed a sprint triathalon in college just for fun. I got my degree and teach PE/Health at the high school level. I then was convinced by my coworker to train for a half-marathon and completed that in 2004. I have always wanted to compete in fitness or figure, but never really had the will power for the diet part. That element scared me away many times. My cousin competes in bodybuilding and always encouraged me to try for a figure comp. I decided to give it a go this past summer when I was working out to "look good" for our anniversary trip to Hawaii. I felt good and started to see some results. I still am a bit overwhelmed with the diet part, but am doing my best to learn and push through. I am hoping to work with Tracy and Cam soon to prepare for my first figure show sometime next year!

Howdy

Hmmmmm where to start.........

I met Scorpiogirl on another board, had the pleasure of meeting her in person and have come to this board in support of her preparing for competition.
  • I'm 40
  • I'm 5'4"
  • 160 lbs (and currently attached to a plateau with some form of epoxy)
  • BF% is probably around 6 million% (I feel squishy)
  • Mother of two (both moved out this year but 1 is moving back *scratches head*)
  • I'm grammy to one fabulous 14 mo old grandchild.
  • I have 1 dog and 4 fish. (My significant other will be moving here in the spring.)
  • Diet is 40/30/30 with caloric range of 10x-12x body weight. I'm currently dissecting my diet to see what needs changed to help get me off this plateau.
  • Supps are ON Pro Complex PM, Glutamine, multi-vit
  • I don't get enough sleep because I'm working two jobs and it stinks.

I'm not training right now due to my schedule so I don't believe I'll be starting a training log here until I can actually start training again. The closest thing I get to training is job 2 which is physical labor.

I have absolutely no intention or desire to compete and I have the utmost respect for those who go through comp prep., regardless of wether or not they compete.

I'm here to cheer Scorpiogirl on - and I brought my pom poms!!

As redneck as I may be I'm a fabulous cheerleader!

Ok, this is probably more than you wanted to know but feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Hello Ladies!

Some of you know me as Sweetness from another board- for some reason I couldn't log on that way here. I am new to training - have been working out about 2 years but really became addicted about a year ago. I am a single mom of a 6 yr old little boy. However, I am in a wonderful 2 1/2 yr. relationship with someone who is helping/teaching me, motivating, and a real pain in every muscle I have at times- but that's what I need. This is all for me- compeletly selfish. I want to look and feel great about me (a horrible 10 yr. marriage tends to deplete your self esteem) No plans to compete but I learn a lot from reading your posts and really push myself because I see what you ladies are doing. I am 31, 107lbs, 5'4, high metab, work out 4-5x wk @ 1 hr everyday. My goal is to gain 10 lbs. of lean muscle. I like my work out routine and tweak it when needed but my diet is where I don't know what I'm doing. Thanks for sharing any ideas that might help my training and I look forward to talking to all of you! No pictures yet- I am too skinny. Oh--SG, seeing your profile on here was very inspiring! You look amazing and didn't realize you were a tiny petite thing like me at one time--- now I know I can get what I want. You look great!!
