YOu're comin' in, man. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Delts and quads are your forté.

I would make sure to include some controlled, but heavy ab work. I think you could a bit better to show your physique, too.

Any side or back shots?...

Im hoping to get down to 225lbs or so at 5'8" I feel thats not a bad weight to start this run at competition.

Ive seen were others like Bret Becker weigh in less than 210lb at 5'8" and he always looks very large on stage.

Is it possible to make 4% BF from were Im at in 6-7 weeks?

I know my first show is a warm up, but Im not real keen on the idea of just showing up, if you know what I mean.
I think Ive got an idea of what my body responds to now. Like it or not Randy amd Skip, I have to have a 30 min low intensity walk in the AM and PM to burn this lard off, remember Im OLD! The carb cycling is the ticket for me also.

Anyways thakns for all of the input and I'll keep doing what Im doing.

Looks like you're doing everything right, Sweat. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just keep it going and it should wind up great.

Posing positions look good. I'm a coach, so if you have any posing questions holler any time.

My question would be: Could he or SHOULD he squat into his side shots a bit more so that the leg is not as straight up and down? I would wonder if the ham would "spread" a bit more when pushed with the other leg, giving him an even thicker leg front to back.

Just a thought and I am curious as to your opinion, Gerry.

I havent hit a pose since 1988....I know I need to work on it. I have just set up a posing studio consisting of a 4X8 mirror and a couple overhead lights. This is something I did for my wife last year that worked out very well for her. Now its my turn.( Even though she has her show between my 2 shows this summer.)
I will start playing in the miror this week as well as work out my routine.

I just hope I dont have anymore "Im skinny" attacks anytime soon...

Thanks again guys....

Skip, it's something I don't usually advise shorter competitors to do, but I'd give it a try here.

Sometimes bending the knees a bit more will bring out the quad and ham more and increase the width of the side leg. Some guys can squeeze hard enough with relatively straight legs and bring this out as well.

Has been sort of a trial and error thing, Usually have the guys I work with try it both ways to see which is more effective and more comfortable. One guy had a bad sense of balance so we kept him straight up. Straight leg gives the illusion of more height for shorter guys.

Sweat, the studio is a great for incentive. Set up a definite practice schedule and stick to it.

A quick $.02 on posing.

Flare the arms more in the relaxed front pose, also turning the palms to face in, making the hands smaller. Heels together, too.

I would sit down more on the front poses and also play around with putting 1 leg out to the side, slightly turned to make the leg look wider.

SPREAD them lats, SWEATY!!! YOu got the mass, so spread that shit like there's no tomorrow! LOL.

I would cross the front leg over the back leg more in the ab shot.

I would sweep the hammie in the side chest, drop the rear shoulder a tad and turn more, putting the front shoulder back. Possibly, I would lower the hands to show serratus, intercostal and oblique conditioning.

All good suggestions, hom. Some shows, judges call for heels together in front relaxed so that is a good way to practice. And palms in is what I advise as well.

For sure, important to flare the lats. Elbows should be 180 degrees out so on the same plane as the torso. This is the toughest pose for beginners to nail. On my web page, I describe my yardstick methos for helping with the front lat.

Lowering hands for side chest also very good as long as serratus and intercostals are there. If not prominent enough, then keep hands higher. Squeeze hands together to flex bicep.
