Show on Saturday

I'm doing my first figure show on Saturday Oct. 7. I put on my first coat of pro tan yesterday. Should I stop at two coats or go for three?

I'd put on 10 if you have time

in all seriousness, you can't be too dark

yeah coat and coat and coat and coat. just make sure your last coat is dry before your next one - otherwise it blotches and wrecks. them stage lights are mighty bright and will ruin your physique if your not dark enough. listen to bhman - get at least 6 and shoot for 10. GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND

Thanks. How long does it take to dry before you're safe and don't get blotchy? I've seen some bad paint jobs so I've probably been a little hesitant and allowing a super long time to dry.

it takes a few hours for complete dryness, have someone use a blowdryer on you. It sucks and takes some time but it helps speed up the process.

i agree with everyone else, cant be too dark...

if you do your legs first they will be drying as you do your upper body. by the time it comes to do your legs again you should be fine

like bankerbabe said, you can manually blowdry one area while someone paints another....in about 3 hours time you could easily put on 5-6 coats....and whoever is painting you will be MISERABLE!

I am going to disagree and say that it takes alot longer for protan to set up than a few hours. In fact, I recommend only apply one heavy coat every 12 hours.

How is THAT for confusing you? : )

Thanks for all your help. It was just a small show and a last minute decision. I just went through some crap in my personal life and I did it for a boost, so I really had to focus without a trainer or coach. I placed 2nd in my first show!!!!! I'm totally stoked. I'll definitley be more prepared for the next show. I ended up with about five coats of pro-tan and 2-3 coats of the instant pro tan gel. I could have been a little darker, but I looked good in comparison. I'm 23 and by far I was the youngest figure girl. All the other contestants were in their late 30's and early 40's. I was totally surprised at how different my physique was. I knew it would be, but standing right next to these gals really put it in perspective and it was like night and day, so I wasn't sure which way the judges would go. It worked out for me though. The gal that won did both the BB and figure and she looked great.
Awesome! I'm ready pick another one and start training and really get my career rolling again after nearly a year of de-training and neglecting to put myself first in life. Super big thanks to the Intensemuscle Team.

First, congratulations on your first show. That is great to hear.

I had a good friend move to Billings that works out. Anywhere near Billings?

Just curious. *shrug*

Missoula, but I'm really familiar with the Billings area. I'm in Honolulu right now and the Paradise Cup is in a couple of weeks at the Sheraton Waikiki, a few blocks from where I live. I'd like to stay and watch but I have to fly to Scottsdale. Bummer! I should probably post a new thread and ask about training in the Honolulu area. Where to go and who to get in touch with.

It's lonely out here and I'm kind of in a rut as far as training goes because getting from one place to another and then actually finding a place to park is a pain in the ass. It seems like there are more cars than people on Oahu.

Aloha n welcome green. I just saw this thread. Congrats on your first show. Do you have pics to post?

My hubby (aka ParadiseCup) and I are from Oahu. We both competed at the ParadiseCup when we lived in Honolulu.

There are several Hawaiians on this board. We trained at the 24-hour fit on Kapiolani. "Trucelt" trains I think at the Mililani and Pearl Kai locations.

Great to have you here.

Good, Good! I ate at Nick's Fish Market two nights ago. Totally delicious Lobster Tail. Mmmm. Halloween on Kalakaua was rediculous. Tons of tourists in trashy costumes. It was funny. That earthquake was sure a rocker! I actually didn't feel it though. I was in the car on the way back from the Gym, but when I got home my boyfriend looked like he'd seen a ghost. We lost power for about 12 hrs. There were lines of people getting free Ice Cream all day.

It was a natural NANBF Show. I really want to focus and do a larger show (NPC or NGA) and actually do some contest prep. When I said last minute I really meant it. I was visiting my mom in Wyoming and she made my suit two weeks before, we sewed on some jewels and I threw on some pro tan, drove 8 hours, and literally walked on stage, after researching some poses from the pros.
So be kind (I'm sensitive) I know there is work to be done to roll with the big girls and I'm willing to work hard. I was a college athlete so I'm no stranger to sacrifice.
My abs are a tough spot for me to lean out. Any comments are welcome and much appriciated and I promise to take them with a grain of salt.
