Vascularity

What causes vacularity. Sodium? Carbs? Or is the best result optained by combining both?

Id like to think its a gentic thing IMHO. I mean some guys are just more vascular than others. Although i do think certain foods and your bodyfat play a huge role as well.

Some guys are genetically more vascular than others (Branch Warren) but you need to be in pretty great shape. Like single digit bf.

Im thinking about before you go on stage. fx if you shitload. Is it the sodium, carbs or the combination that get your veines to swell....?

I think its a combination of carbs, fats and more importnatly sodium and water. If your sodium is too and you are not drinking enough water you will not be as vascular.

Genetic - to some degree vascularity is genetic

Training - the way you train affects vascularity. If you push your reps to the point where your muscle are in extreme oxygen deficit and the lactic acid is accumulating, your body adapts to that. It does so my releasing hormones that increase vascularity. That is one of the reasons I like to sizzle my muscles with drop sets and high rep sets to finish up.

Getting Lean - some people think that they are not genetically vascular because they don't get lean enough. When you are really lean, you will see much better vascularity.

Nutrition - certainly you can change vascularity with nutrition and supplements before you step on stage. It is something you ought to experiment with as you approach the contest. Products that are vasodialators help (NO2/Arginine-based products). Sodium and carbs can also help. From my vantage point, you ought to focus on getting into top condition and not try anything out of the ordinary on the day of the show. Play with NO2. Play with sodium and high-glycemic carbs. Don't come up with a plan and try it out on the day of the show. You've been busting your butt to get into shape -- why jeopardize what you have worked so hard for with a roll of the dice.
