Since one of the criteria in judging is symmetry, this can effect your scoring/placing.
But, there are times when a person with a torn muscle has a superior physique to those how are on stage with him/her and they can still place high or win. Since we judge on three things (presentation, muscular development and balance/symmetry) and they are equally weighted, it is very possible to place over someone without a torn muscle. In judging, it's all about who shows up to the show that you are entering (and you usually don't know that until check-in). My suggestion is to always bring YOUR best, because you never know who's going to be there. You may be the best in one show, but the next show someone might come from no where and beat you (or someone you've completed against all along might finally bring their best). But that's the thrill of the sport, is that we can make changes and improvements throughout our entire life. |

She's right...it's possible to win contests with torn/ disfigured muscles. It all depends on who shows up and how bad the muscle also looks.
We see a lot of torn muscles on stage, mainly pecs and biceps. Heck, look at Fedorov on the pro stage. He has more torn muscles in one body than I have ever seen and somehow he's still in demand. Got pics? |
