tanning
....I hate it
therefore, I'm wondering if any of the other competitors or vets in the sport know a way to get a nice stage ready tan from various tanning products I've read about guys using ProTan mixed with Dye-O-Derm to get super dark, other guys putting on several base coats of ProTan and then putting Jana Tana Competition tan over that I'm basically trying to find a way to avoid tanning as I don't tan easily anyways and I hate the way it makes my skin feel |

if you don't have a base tan, wouldn't the tan you brush on be ok anyway?

We see a lot of people show up to contests here and they are totally white. They go backstage and walk out looking horrible after they have tried to color themselves in only a few minutes.
On the other hand, we have a pro Figure girl here names Carla Sanchez. A lot of the girls she trains for local shows will walk in without color and come out looking perfect. I think it all depends on a few things: 1.) Condition of the skin (dry or moisturized; exfoliated or not; etc..) 2.) Type of product used We were just talking about this at a brunch at some friend's of ours. Maybe IG or PC can chime in. |

would a natural sun tan work? or maybe a tanning salon? I read stories of how guys have to stand through 3 to 7 applications of paint to get the "perfect shade" besides, i can imagine how hard it is to apply their own colors, especially to the hard to reach/see areas such as the back.

It doesn't matter if you're REALLY tan....you're going to look pale on stage without color if the lighting is good. The color is needed even if you're dark skinned.

I'm not saying I'd color up he day of the show, I just don't want to go tanning
I'd rather load up on 10 coats of ProTan Wednesday-Friday and then throw on some Jana Tana overtop for some extra brownness I've seen some figure girls the day before look pale as casper and put on ProTan and then Jana Tana comp. tan and they had the darkest brown color out of anyone on stage I noticed the same thing with Trop, I believe he said he used ProTan and then Comp. tan over it and his color was fantastic I might try to get a hold of a bottle of each in a couple weeks and give it a go just on my torso maybe |

I (myself) do about 6 coats of Pro Tan with a coat of Jan Tana Competition Color on top the morning of the show. It always turns out great.

I personally look forward to tanning...it's my mid-day nap. What I notice with my skin is my skin takes a tan much easier in a bed if my skin is really moist. I don't get the dry, tingly feeling some people get when they tan. I really think keeping the skin moist is the secret to a great tan.
